Video: Pine Lawn Using Speed Camera Revenue for Salaries
The city of Pine Lawn near Saint Louis, Missouri has about 3,200 residents, but expects to collect around a million dollars from their speed cameras. Pine Lawn says the money will be used for streets, not salaries, but said the money could be used for whatever they see fit.
Speed Cameras in Pine Lawn and other areas around Saint Louis are run by private companies that split the revenue with the city. Violators receive traffic tickets in the mail and are expected to pay the fine or show up in court.
