St. Louis County and other areas have announced increased patrols for speeding, DWI, and commercial vehicle checkpoints sometime in the month of April.
- St. Louis County & St. Charles County OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T. at the Boone Bridge by MSHP. Operation PROTECT is usually 10+ MSHP patrol cars searching for safety and alcohol violations with a zero tolerance policy for speeding and following too close.
- Commercial Vehicle Checkpoint in Troop E (Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Iron, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Ripley, Scott, Stoddard, and Wayne) – Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Project to Check for alcohol- and drug–impaired driving, speeding, safety belt, inattention or distracted driving, weight, size, inspection compliance, and drug interdiction – CMV safety and compliance with regulations.
These are only the announced DWI checkpoints and vehicle patrols. We often see more checkpoints than what is announced, so always have a sober driver!
